  • 1915 – Born in Sea Isle City, N.J., to William A. Haffert, Sr. and Louise Mathias Haffert, daughter of Judge and Mrs. Louis B. Mathias, of Philadelphia

  • 1940 – John authored his first book, “Mary in Her Scapular Promise,” the first major move of his career

  • 1941 – Founded The Scapular Society

  • 1946 – Met with Sister Lucia, the sole surviving Fatima seer

  • 1947 – Co-founded the Blue Army of Our Lady with Msgr. Harold Colgan

  • 1947 – John arranged for the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima to be blessed by the Bishop of Leiria

  • 1947 – John traveled with the Statue to Ottawa, Canada, where she was crowned by Archbishop Vachon

  • 1947 – The Statue was triumphantly received in Buffalo, New York

  • 1950 – The Blue Army launched Soul Magazine, its official publication

  • 1950 – The Blue Army was organized officially

  • 1954 – The Blue Army became international; Pope Pius XII issued an encyclical “Our Lady as Queen of the World,” and the feast of Our Lady’s Queenship was established

  • 1954 – The Blue Army sponsored the first Peace Flight led by John Haffert

  • 1955 – John spread the Fatima message on 110 television stations

  • 1956 – Legate of Pope Pius XII blessed the new International Center of the Blue Army in Fatima

  • 1956 – Dedication of Blue Army Shrine and adoption of governing rules

  • 1971 – Our Lady was crowned as Queen of the World in more than 50 countries

  • 1978 – Bishop Rahr dedicated the National Shrine of the Blue Army to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

  • 1983 – John founded Skystar Airline

  • 1987 – John Haffert retired from the Blue Army administration

  • 1992 – International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima was crowned in Moscow, 45 years after its first crowning in Ottawa

  • 1995 – John started the Lay Apostolate Foundation

  • 1996 – Two million Catholics welcomed the Statue in Manila, the Philippines

  • 1996 – John established the Fatima-Oureana Foundation at Ourem Castle, Portugal

  • 2001 – Is called by God to eternity in the presence of the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima
